This is an updated version of the original video. While not at full resolution, it contains more photos, all the lyrics, and a music background. I'd appreciate any comments comparing the two versions. It is one of 8 songs that were part of my daily circle time routine when I taught kindergarten. They then became the basis for my end of year graduation ceremony. I have finally put the videos, daily routine, sheet music, and graduation script on DVD. All that remains is for me to set up a web site offering the full resolution version for sale. If you have any helpful suggestions, your feedback would be most welcome. Less

Apr 9, 2012 - One possibility: Each child could sit in a chair holding a color, then stand up when his/her color appears in the song. The children could begin by sitting in order and singing the song slowly, then later, as they become more proficient, they could sit out of order and sing the song faster.

Apr 9, 2012 - Thanks! I'm with a local Boys&Girls Club, and I'll be trying this one out with our 4- and 5-year olds today. Any suggestions for songs that help with basic social interaction skills? A conceptual triad I'm currently helping with is: "I say 'please' when I want something, 'sorry' when I've acted wrong or unkind, and 'thank you!' when someone is nice." Any help (or pointers) is greatly appreciated. Thanks again!

Jan 13, 2012 - You're absolutely right. This song is not for TEACHING the colors. Once a child knows his colors, however, it can be used for reinforcement, for word recognition, or, as it was in my own case, for a concert or kindergarten graduation.

Jan 12, 2012 - This is not so good for teaching young children, because the song is too fast (words pronounced too fast) at the beginning, especially for ESL young students.

Aug 1, 2011 - ok I had to post this.. . A rainbow is composed of the entire spectrum of colors of visible light, from the longest wavelength, red, to the shortest wavelength, violet. Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet. 7 colors of the Rainbow. That is the 7 colors of the rainbow in order.
