TO CHANGE FROM SPLIT SCREEN TO 3D/2D, CLICK THE '3D' TAB AT THE BOTTOM OF YOUR VIEWER. TO EMBED, SEE http://vimeo.com/14294054 by Keiichi Matsuda keiichimatsuda.com The architecture of the contemporary city is no longer simply about the physical space of buildings and landscape, more and more it is about the synthetic spaces created by the digital information that we collect, consume and organise; an immersive interface may become as much part of the world we inhabit as the buildings around us. Augmented Reality (AR) is an emerging technology defined by its ability to overlay physical space with information. It is part of a paradigm shift that succeeds Virtual Reality; instead of disembodied occupation of virtual worlds, the physical and virtual are seen together as a contiguous, layered and dynamic whole. It may lead to a world where media is indistinguishable from 'reality'. The spatial organisation of data has important implications for architecture, as we re-evaluate the city as an immersive human-computer interface. Less

Mar 5, 2012 - I'll have you know that I'm not some kind of Luddite. this technology just seems so petty. It's clear there was very little research and development of this crap. Just like Microsoft, Google, and Apple have done, this is just a renaming and repackaging of an already existing service in the name of profitability. This shit, along with smartphones and facebook, reveals nothing about humanity and it's current position. With all this power in our hands, we could be doing so much more.

Mar 5, 2012 - Of course this will give you total GORILLA ARMS, and so, while the idea of augmented reality is great (disclaimer: I'm working in the field), this interface is EPIC FAIL.

Feb 8, 2012 - I can see why the guy is slumped out on the table at the start of the video. He probably needs a lay down every half hour or so. I guess they both have an AR version of 'bag on their head' for laters. Imagine the specsaver commercials for this kit...etc

Oct 11, 2011 - Watched this in 3D with my VuzixEurope eyewear plugged into my iPhone. Awesome, but a bit of information overload, but I get the point, especially in 3D. Can you do a first person version of this where the scene is what the person sees from his own eyes. That would be very interesting....
