May 25, 2012 - Yes, great song. I've been listening to some other stuff by them including "Falling apart at the seams". I'd completely forgotten they had done that.
I may have mentioned this before (sorry), but I saw them at the Blue Lagoon in Newquay in 1975 without Dean Ford but with the guy singing lead and playing guitar on the "Falling apart" clip. They were really impressive even without the main man.
Regards.
May 24, 2012 - Dean Ford is recording again & about to perform a gig in Los Angeles, where he now lives. Checkout "The Glasgow Road" on youtube. Written by Dean and performed in collaboration with Joe Tansin who was in the later version of Badfinger. It's a fabulous song & Dean still has a wonderful voice!
May 23, 2012 - Incredible song, and an amazingly compelling live version of the track. Dean Ford is one of the most soulful and soul-stirring vocalists, who, sadly, is also one of the most over-looked and underrated singers of the 60's/70's. It's too bad his solo career didn't fare better - it would seem with a better selection of songs and the right producer, Ford could have had a huge solo career. Yet, the video remains as a testament to Ford's vocal capabilities. I never tire of hearing the man sing.
May 20, 2012 - Sorry. I understand what you mean now about the guitar solo being cut "out" rather than in. Real shame because I always used to love that little break he plays on the single.
All the best.
May 19, 2012 - When I said that he cut his own guitar solo, means that he cut it out. The Marmalade performed 2 songs in this "live" networked show, Junior had to re-arrrange the score, which was why he cut out his guitar solo to allow for the full lyric to be performed in the time slot given to the band. There is a full orchestra offstage to the left of the screen, you can just see the conductor at the beginning of the film. Junior the co-author has left comments here with all of the info. Fab performance!
May 18, 2012 - i agree a great song played beautifully. my parents used 2 play this and it is part of my childhood. i like 2 check out these old songs bcause it reminds of other times earlier. thanx 4 posting it!
May 18, 2012 - What do you mean "cut his own guitar solo (in)"? There aint no guitar solo in this clip. Also, there seems to be an orchestra playing along with some horns as well.
Don't get me wrong though, it's a great song.
