Apr 20, 2011 - I prefer a different route of photoshopping to get the effect, which I found out when I was just playing around and experimenting in photoshop, didnt get any info off other sites whatsoever, and I just found out this is how scott kelby believes dave hill does his photos: Selectively dodge highlights and burn shadows in seperate layers, apply high pass filter and set to overlay, desaturate in adjustment layer, mask through sky so it stays blue. Unsharp mask. Takes more time but it works a treat

Nov 18, 2010 - Nice tutorial It'd be easier to apply the blend mode to your duplicate layer first before applying a high pass filter so that you better know how much effect you want in your photo.
