May 25, 2012 - sol·der/ˈsädər/ Noun: A low-melting alloy, esp. one based on lead and tin or (for higher temperatures) on brass or silver, used for joining less fusible metals. Verb: Join with solder. Synonyms: braze - weld You're welcome.

May 17, 2012 - @Slidinsidewayz2009 @sh4p3shifter @AbortedHitlerCock and to whoever thinks it's pronounced "soul-der", it's supposed to be pronounced "sod-er". Well, at least in the US. You can go google the pronunciation if you'd like or look it up in the dictionary.

AbortedHitlerCock Says:

May 17, 2012 - Pretty much every time I've heard an american say solder, they mispronounce it "sodder", "soddering iron". I have no idea why this is, but if anybody could explain this phenomenon I'd be vaguely interested.

sh4p3shifter Says:

May 17, 2012 - No it's pronounced 'soul-der' not 'sou-der'

Slidinsidewayz2009 Says:

May 14, 2012 - Dude, it's pronounced soLder. There's an L in it for a reason! Who taught you to mis-pronounce it?? Just remember this- holder, colder, folder, bolder, older, SOLDER!

Aldridge517 Says:

May 14, 2012 - I read online that I have to solder something inside my LCD to fix the screen (there's a transparent grey line on it). I think I'll just pay someone to get it fixed but thanks for the video :)

May 12, 2012 - Can some solder get on the iron after you've put it on the joint?

May 3, 2012 - Thanks for this great video! Simple, easy to understand, and GREAT close-ups!

machack95 Says:

May 3, 2012 - Thanks for vid. , i was doing a big mistake . I didnt tin the tip and took a long time for the solder to melt in the joint and resorted to applying it to the tip more.

230910bella Says:

May 2, 2012 - yeah its already in some solders

tartanvdl Says:

May 2, 2012 - Flux is a detergent that helps to clean the joint of oxides and other contaminants to allow a good adhesion. It's a mild acid I believe. And "sodder" is the American pronunciation. The rest of the English speaking world pronounce it correctly as solder. It's just like Aluminium has an "i" before the "um" and should be pronounced!

chrisratliffisawesom Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - what is flux?

ironmagma Says:

Apr 25, 2012 - "Solder" is pronounced "sodder", just like "colonel" is pronounced "kernel".

Doublejacksncoke Says:

Apr 24, 2012 - WHY YOU KEEP SAYING SODDER INSTEAD OF SOLDER?

SalmanBacha Says:

Apr 23, 2012 - Thanks alot for uploading such a helpful video.

Talonades Says:

Apr 21, 2012 - You totally can, I think he does in places. The point is to heat the wire so the solder melts all over it creating a better contact.
