May 17, 2012 - "And reintroduction programmes do work and I believe could work for orcas too." I agree with you about not breeding them at all, but i dont agree with you releasing captive whales who have no idea how to hunt, defend themselves, and to get other nescetitys into the wild. its basically like releasing a baby orcas who's clueless about the world into the ocean to be killed off. yeah, not a big supporter of reckless killing
97FunBun Says:
May 17, 2012 - someone's mad... :P yeah! let's reintroduce them, and if you know it fails and the orcas die, we can just keep on trying. nothing wrong at all... you know, they might as well just slaughter them as is then. and please, if you're so driven to get the animals freed you people should do something more active than just commenting on youtube videos. build a petition, bring your case to court, but just complaining and saying you want them freed on youtube isn't gonna help them at all
marxandmarzipan Says:
May 17, 2012 - my god, you're stupid, you just repeated yourself!! Do I have to answer you with the same sentence?? Read my last comment. And they've given a reintroduction programme ONE go. Traditionally it takes a few trail and error tries to learn how to rehabilitate an animal. You're never gonna learn if you don't try!!! And reintroduction programmes do work and I believe could work for orcas too.
97FunBun Says:
May 17, 2012 - no i dont. but i'd rather them be alive, well fed, and cared for then being let out into the ocean only to die from predators, diseases, or due to the fact they haven't learned any predator behaviors from their mother whose most likely captive bred too.
marxandmarzipan Says:
May 17, 2012 - Or if you want to keep orca whales, make a tank as large as the oceans (orcas are found all over the world). They travel up to 100 miles a day. Do you agree with keeping wild whales in tiny tanks? How about Lolita?
marxandmarzipan Says:
May 17, 2012 - Im not saying release the ones already bred in captivity, idiot. Im saying it would be better to not breed them at all. Shut all the parks down - make it illegal (like it is here, in the UK). If you want to see orca whales, go to them in the wild.
97FunBun Says:
May 17, 2012 - and let these bred animals out into the wild and they will die due to not knowing how to hunt, defend, etc. for themselves. the teethes of those in captivity aren't as sharp or not even there than those in the wild. let them out into the wild and they will die
hexshell Says:
May 17, 2012 - why does that top comments by IAmADalek have so many likes. i dont know whether these orcas are breed or captured but staying in a limited tank with constant noise IS creating psychological damage. and what do you mean by training is a brilliant enricher? so by jumping and swimming upside-down will help orcas? saying that orcas are forced may be an overstatement. but orcas are rewarded for their actions and punished for not performing tricks. and what can orcas do. theyre on human's turf
marxandmarzipan Says:
May 16, 2012 - Freedom is not their concept because they have never experienced it. And you cannot condone that. Just because the concrete tank is all this animal has ever known does not make it ok to keep them here for the rest of its life. Breeding orcas for human entertainment is wrong. They have instincts and are still wild animals at heart.
marxandmarzipan Says:
May 16, 2012 - Does anyone else think that people should get off their fat asses if they want to see magnificent animals like this? Go to THEIR NATURAL HOME and see them DO NATURAL THINGS in the wild with their NATURAL FAMILIES. This is sick. Not to mention cheesey.
bella162977 Says:
May 15, 2012 - wat r the white cube things they give them? :o
TotallyFuzzedOut Says:
May 15, 2012 - "They shouldn't be doing the same thing everyday in a cage." That kinda reminds me of my life: stuck in the same place doing a repetitative job everyday...I think the orcas have it better there than I do at least they get free food and treats...it must be great being a whale!
