Jan 25, 2012 - So what you are saying is that Jamestown Distributors thinks that cheap and sleazy is a good thing? I understand hiring a professional is expected, but not that kind. Go to an ad agency next time if you want to have a respectable image.

dgb0000001 Says:

Oct 7, 2011 - I know its a little late, but on a two-stroke, it is possible and normal to have excess two stroke oil there in a thru-hub exhaust propeller. However, continuous dripping of lower unit oil indicates a bad prop shaft seal

JamestownTV Says:

Feb 14, 2011 - No, this is not normal and very likely indicates the seal on the propshaft has failed. I suggest bringing it to a marine outboard mechanic. I also suggest NOT storing the lower unit without oil. Thanks for the question.

Oct 5, 2010 - Very thorough. Thank you.

JamestownTV Says:

Sep 16, 2010 - Thank you for your insight, whoever completely removing the lower unit just to drain the gear case sounds like a lot of unnecessary work. As far as purging out the air, that's why you fill from the bottom.

jacobtyler87 Says:

Sep 16, 2010 - It's better to take the whole thing off and clamp it on to a vice, that way its completely vertical and makes the levelling a lot better. also u missed an instruction, u should always leave 5-10 minutes AFTER it has COMPLETELY drained because there could still be air in the chamber
