May 25, 2012 - The political correctness idiots have made people so uptight and panties in a wad you could never tell half these jokes without some nut crying foul and trying to ruin your career that's why.

Apr 7, 2012 - Chicken Catcher Torre made me practically fall on the floor laughing the first time I heard it. It's such a groaner of a joke, but Red's delivery and reaction make it that much funnier.

Apr 7, 2012 - LOL....and the 7th day he rested :)

GreenDay1981 Says:

Apr 5, 2012 - See, that's why I think the Comedy Central roasts suck for the most part. Pamela Anderson has no business being honored like that. A friars roast should be for people who are legends not someone whose claim to fame is a porno with Tommy Lee and having fake boobs. Also having a drug addicted slut like Courtney Love as a presenter is also a joke.

wlwilliford0207 Says:

Apr 4, 2012 - Watch him on the Pam Anderson Roast. He kills it all the way, even though he almost got attacked by Courtney Love for making a Joke about Cobain.Anybody who's seen it will agree. I highly reccomend it.

GreenDay1981 Says:

Apr 4, 2012 - I don't even think Jeff Ross is all that good.

wlwilliford0207 Says:

Apr 4, 2012 - One Exception...Jeff Ross. He learned under the wing of Milton Berle and Buddy Hackett. Read His book, a lot of funny stories in there. Plus out of all those other comedians on the Dais, he's the only one in the Friars Club (Not Quite 100% Sure)

GreenDay1981 Says:

Apr 2, 2012 - That's for sure. The so-called "talent" you see on the Comedy Central roasts don't hold a candle to the legends that Dean Martin had.

GreenDay1981 Says:

Apr 2, 2012 - Never gotta dinna!!

Nov 6, 2011 - ...For one thing, 'because'. this was the GOLDEN AGE OF COMEDY. Can you top guys like George Burns,Jack Benny,Milton Berle,Jonathan Winters,Jackie Gleason,Dean Martin,Don Rickles,Red Buttons,Nipsey Russell,Phyllis Diller and the like ? there just 'arent' comedians around this talented anymore.... and these people learned from other 'earlier' geniuses like Charlie Chaplin,Harold Lloyd, Buster Keaton, W.C. Fields...we will 'NEVER' see their like again.

uzimodem Says:

Jul 7, 2011 - :well, these people knew each other for one thng. but as to the "remarks", PC has made us the United States of the Offended. I for one would like to laugh, but too scared to do so because I may be a racist. what a sickening culture we have now. I would take those days in a new york minute if I could. just my opinion.

brooklyndodger59 Says:

Jul 6, 2011 - I was only in my teens when these shows aired in the '70's. I couldn't wait for Dean to put on his next one. I used to love them so much & really still do. Although I'm with you, all this PC crap today is a bunch of BS, some of the stuff said back then was so blatantly racist it makes my skin crawl to hear it today. I guess in those days, making a joke of stereotypes & bigotry was supposed to make it OK, in much the way "All in the Family" went about tackling the issue.

jrssjdca Says:

Jul 1, 2011 - I used to watch these roasts every week, and there's some editing, but the continuity was as you see it. What would be the point in editing a program, so that the laughs you see from the panel is for a different joke? Some poster suggested that these are scripted, but you can't or don't script Dean Martin wiping a tear from his eye when Foster Brooks was roasting Don Rickles. These comedians are pros with impeccable timing, and what you see is pretty much what you get.

uzimodem Says:

Jun 17, 2011 - these were classy people and were not PC whores. our society is being ruined by this bullshit.

uzimodem Says:

Jun 17, 2011 - Because the PC whores have taken over our society. sickening but true.

eolsunder Says:

May 29, 2011 - well you also have to take into account the reactions aren't always to the person doing the jokes. These tapes were edited of course, time shrunk down, and often the reactions to the jokes aren't actually to THAT joke, but might be to another joke in the evening. They are cut down and edited to fit into the roast tape timeline. The reactions you really know are real at that point are those when a wide view shot is given. There are some that are also re-used in the tapes multiple times.
