May 21, 2012 - I love them so much, but you can't claim that there's nothing pretentious about Nicky I-have-a-politics-degree Wire.

May 20, 2012 - Don't you mean unpretentious? There's nothing pretentious about this song or the band, in fact it is the opposite.

May 12, 2012 - Its probably also a rebellion against his hometown and the percieve it as parochial. Nothing new there. He had little love for Welsh speakers either, were called self obssessed and blind. I don't have much love for him either ; ) Anyone who carves 'For real' on his shoulders makes me think he was narcassistic with serious mental health issues. Not someone whom I admire at all. As you can see, I am not a Manic Street Preachers fan ; )

May 11, 2012 - think hes one of these idealist internationalists...who turns his back on his area for the world.......which is nice.....but wales needs ppl to care for it....i see the scars of resource theft all around.....where is our inherited wealth??? the elites have it

3tangle3 Says:

May 11, 2012 - maybe it was bullying......but he cant of hated wales because of its state...as there was no voice for the welsh, we are ruled by london since invasion.....some welsh are quite self loathing.....a reason my family didnt teach me the native british language of welsh :(

Apr 29, 2012 - I wonder why he hated things about Wales ? I guess everyone hates somethings about their nation sometimes . Maybe he was bullied by rugby players at school or something and Wales are rugby mad so...? He must have been depressed as f*** if he jumped off the bridge . Shame as he would have got happier and look how massive Manics are nowdays . Yeah , it's a small country so I get why they've embraced their bg . They seem like a politically aware , intelligent band who give a shit about stuff

alunewilliams Says:

Apr 29, 2012 - Notice that I said he was from Wales and not Welsh! Richie Edwards didn't have much love for his country of birth anyway. He hated a lot of things about Wales. It wasn't until he disappeared that the band embraced their background much more.

Apr 28, 2012 - It was this song, and not Nirvana, that made me stood up and take notice in the 90s.
