Apr 25, 2012 - I could have used it in those other areas too, it's just that I didn't mind a bit of a curve in those areas. Basically, adding a loop close to another sharpens the bend in that area. I didn't add an extra loop in other areas to keep somewhat of a softer curve. You can see that at the bottom of the handle, where it meets the canister.

Apr 24, 2012 - I have a question. When you used Swift Loop at the end of the movie. You used it on the top and bottom for the Cap but you only did the Top for the handlers. Why only the top on handles? Isn't both the same example but just in different areas?

Apr 24, 2012 - Its called watch the "modeling objects part 1"

Mar 6, 2012 - Oh my.. we need a reminder for that constraints... like the object isolation window.. Who agrees?

Mar 6, 2012 - Make a bind to orbit select object, the alt is slow IMO

Mar 3, 2012 - great tutorial but would be better if you explained what function each of those things you did had

Mar 2, 2012 - Alt+MMB (middle mouse button). This is explained in the Navigating in the Scene movie, around 5:08

Mar 1, 2012 - what command keys do you use to orbit around that fast?

Feb 27, 2012 - Actually, there is already one movie that you will find useful, it's in the Modeling playlist and called Modeling Architectural Metal - Part 3 - Curtain Walls.

Feb 27, 2012 - WILL YOU PLEASE MODEL A CURTAIN WALL MULLION OR WINDOW SYSTEM MULLION TO CREATE A FRAME. I AM IN NEED OF RENDERING SOME WINDOW FRAME WITH PROPER MULLION PROFILE. I REALLY APPRECIATE IT.

Feb 27, 2012 - In a nutshell, geometry made out of "quads" deforms much better when skinned to a skeleton, and certainly behaves better when subdivided into a finer mesh (like when using the Turbosmooth modifier). Therefore, you are much better off using quads when modeling characters you plan to skin on a skeleton. If on the other hand, you are modeling a static object that you don't need to subdivide or plan to animate (a building for example), then you can have a bit more liberty in modeling that.

Feb 26, 2012 - awesome tutorial !!

Feb 26, 2012 - Can someone explain why is it undesirable to have 6 sided polygons? Why would you always want quads? @1:36
xxxCADAVeR Says:
Feb 23, 2012 - @ 3:15 ... after scaling polygon, it is good to select it and all four adjacent polygons, and use "make planar" command to correct geometry distortion ... or change axis mode from "view" to "local", it changes basic transform axes to follow orientation of surface
CarlosPipeful Says:
Feb 17, 2012 - hello why is it better to make 4 sided polygons instead of just leaving polygons with more sides

Feb 17, 2012 - Wonderful, it was my first 3D object that i've created, step by step to be a game designer, i;m just excited to discover more & more of this AWESOME program...once again Autodesk stand in the 1st place!!!!

Feb 13, 2012 - yeah! U are right! was desactivate. Now I can see the icon, thank u very much! ^^
3dsMaxHowTos Says:
Feb 13, 2012 - You may have a problem with your installation, or you may have accidentally turned it off. There's an icon on the main toolbar named "Graphite Modeling Tools" (4th icon to the right of the selection sets pull-down menu), make sure the button is active ("pushed" on). Cheers.

Feb 13, 2012 - I'm using 2012 version! but I don't see this little icon (white with little black arrow), maybe is different in 2012? thank u for your time!
