May 23, 2012 - For those who shoot digital cameras two "mirrored" hard drives would be enough. Even if they are vacation and family photos, hard drives are cheap these days and that will protect you from a hard drive failure. If you are in business, a third off site "secret" place will save you from a direct hit by an atom bomb. Anyone else who is shooting with a RED or other high end video camera knows how to store their stuff.

EamonnDoylePhotoFilm Says:

May 23, 2012 - although it does suck when you lose all of those pictures because you don't backup your data, which is what this particular video is about

May 23, 2012 - you must have an awesome life, whats it like living in black and white?

UnbiasedRender Says:

May 17, 2012 - What do they do, if nothing happens? Do they make an extra copy just to burn it?

SunDevilAngels1 Says:

May 17, 2012 - Transferring Master raw files through a software program is a huge mistake and a no no. Wow I can not believe these guys actually do that.

May 16, 2012 - I liked Chase when he started and included his schooling in philosophy. He's now become a commodity and teaches commodity skills, like fancy gear and marketing. It only takes a decent camera body and 2-3 lenses to create the best photographs. It does not require purchasing anything else. Spend your time learning the arts and history of photography if you want to make a name for yourself. It costs very little to succeed in our trade. Hone your craft, not your gear.

Cagey75 Says:

May 16, 2012 - True that. There are gear heads, and then true photographers out there with one old body, a couple of lenses and one hard drive. They get by.

May 15, 2012 - Man if Steve Jobs had never stolen that Xerox Parc operating system so many poor workers never would have gotten a job building ipads. LOL! ong way fro Quadra video stations, good vid.

hpcine Says:

May 14, 2012 - Very nice - however, bombproof is a tad optimistic, given that any moment, with no warning, Apple may, can and does discontinue applications. Does not inspire confidence, as many fcp users have found out the hard way.

dravideditor Says:

May 11, 2012 - Great workflow BUT MISSED one Important step mastering for VIDEO. ALWAYS Export in the NATIVE Format FIRST out of FCP, (should be real-time or faster - then CHECK IT.) THEN you can convert the Native .mov Digital Master through Compressor.

May 11, 2012 - I have dvd backups in the other side of my bedroom. LOL

litoazmitia Says:

May 8, 2012 - I burn dvd's... pretty neat huh?

ttdrums Says:

May 8, 2012 - How funny. His set up is just like mine.

HebrewSamurai Says:

May 7, 2012 - if there DIT just got the plug in for FCP, he could do a strait log and transfer for the video files. That way he isn't wasting as much time doing the long compressor.

May 6, 2012 - Great overview of a well thought out system. One thing that didn't add up was that the off site back up for their 64TB server was an 8TB system. Can anyone explain what they're actually off-siting on that 8TB G-Drive?

MLKstudios Says:

May 6, 2012 - Very helpful to all the millionaires who want to become photographers.

dannyOdr Says:

May 2, 2012 - I wonder if he should make an extra back up along the way?

Apr 23, 2012 - a little apple commercial (-_~)

eliopoulos97 Says:

Apr 17, 2012 - 64TB!!!??? That is a shit load of space... Its insane. I only keep one copy of my files in a 500gb external drive cause my laptop is not that spacey. But I'm not a pro photographer and i have any clients (yet ;]) so if i do something wrong i just re-shoot. Most of the time my data is not that holy.

MrMonkeyface1010 Says:

Apr 15, 2012 - well..... I keep 3 copies of all my photos, my laptop, my desktop, and my camera

FinlandApollo Says:

Apr 14, 2012 - I don't understand, you have 64TB of storage where drives are in the RAID. You have about 32TB or less drive spaces and still you run all of your files from that server to a 8TB drive? How much storage do you have in that server for use?

SNiPeZzzzZzz Says:

Apr 12, 2012 - Yep Premiere really rocks but the only thing it lacks and final cut has is Apple Prores 4:2:2. That compression f**king rock!!
