Mar 31, 2012 - where you gonna get all those tyres from in the near future when there won't be enough everywhere as they aren't available already?

StormTrek Says:

Mar 31, 2012 - I just can't get over people promoting small scale solar-to-electric and wind-to-electric (especially short roof top installations). It requires factories to produce all those appliances and they are inefficient electric generators - not to mention the inefficient battery storage. The big picture is important.

bellch87 Says:

Mar 8, 2012 - My understanding of it is they are used to reduced the amount of cement and adobe mud needed as well as put recyclable materials to use.

Mar 4, 2012 - I wonder how do you solve the pollination problem if you plant indoors? I know many greenhouses put a bumble bee box in them; how do you do it if it's in your house?

lilililililililiilii Says:

Mar 4, 2012 - Reduce the amount of other resources such as cement and potentially allow light to transfer (glass).

monkeyboy8me Says:

Feb 28, 2012 - what is the purpose in using bottles and cans for?

Cyruscosmo Says:

Feb 18, 2012 - Average Joe, 1 Get your permits in order 2 collect tires, cardboard and bottles, stack these items neatly under a tarp until you have enough, two years, three? 3 rent a 580 for a weekend and dig. 4 invite friends and family to stack and pound tires 5 search the building material recyclers for stuff. The point is you can build one over time as you have the funds available and they can be built in phases. biggest hurdle is Land and permits, that and the occasional asshat neighbor.

johan404 Says:

Feb 14, 2012 - Land is not a problem. You can buy an acre of land in the New Mexico or Arizona desert for less than $1000 in many cases.

wolfgang16 Says:

Feb 11, 2012 - land seems to be the only real problem here

Dec 11, 2011 - Brits need to rid themslevs of their Royals, minions, and help them to rejoin human society by labouring building Earthships, instead of feeding off the plight of the common people. If they have ANY compassions for "their people" they would give lands in kindness to the nation.

cou5555 Says:

Dec 11, 2011 - Get rid of your Royals and their minions, make them labour building Earthships, and once they get the idea, they can live in the rubbish bins beside valued animal shelters and barns beside the new home. As for YOU, you need to learn from Michael Ruppert, before your internet, cellphones, and electronics fail.

lra1983 Says:

Dec 2, 2011 - Then live without internet or a phone

wanderingturtle Says:

Nov 11, 2011 - Use less pumps, they are expensive, manufactured components that will require replacing with time. Use more gravity fed pressure systems. This will require you to build taller buildings. Alternatively you could use elevated water storage, with the water being lifted by means mechanical or evaporatory.

gotrum Says:

Oct 22, 2011 - Great informative video just upgrade the resolution. ♥ the concept but at the moment too pricey for me. I would need to buy land then build the earthship.

Timetraveler19 Says:

Aug 7, 2011 - @mcfardo907 I understand your point in these homes being expensive, but the same could be said for the homes that are sold normally and they don't have the same benifits. Also lets not forget that the upfront cost will be high but in the end you will pay alot less, why ? because you will have no electric bills, water bills monthly and food is grown at your home so money would be saved in other areas you would just pay taxes on the land you own.
