May 26, 2012 - Yeah, and it took them 6 months of work to make a rig and animate and hand tweek the animation... it's a long way, but in progress :)
TB4000 Says:
May 22, 2012 - When they can merge this with real world holograms, it's on.
sammmfrg Says:
May 18, 2012 - yea, my dicks not in it
Sheeprwer Says:
May 12, 2012 - That's because someone did a small mistake with animating or with the base design of the character itself, using the same technology the same people can create a model with less flaws. Also, this is something from 3 years ago, and looks pretty much like the most accurate graphic creation I've ever seen, so give em some credit.
MrRodQ Says:
May 11, 2012 - this is from 2008. imagine 10 years from now; 20, 30, or 40. gradually uncanny valley will be surpassed and that will be a frightening time indeed.
joethetimelord Says:
May 5, 2012 - I thought so too, but Real Emily's mouth is exactly the same. There's something wrong with her actual mouth.
churnt Says:
May 3, 2012 - Her lips had on odd displacement and her sunburn face contributed to the uncanny valley effect
RandomUsername010 Says:
May 2, 2012 - Cool. Thanks. I actually thought I was watching a real face in this video. It looks like they're headed toward making truly life like characters. That's cool and scary and the same time, because we won't be able to tell created characters from real people.
sulijoo Says:
May 2, 2012 - I'm a bit confused by people saying there's something 'weird' about her mouth. Have you not seen Ron Pearlman, Willem Dafoe? They look weird and they're REAL PEOPLE! Weirdness does not exclude realism! In fact the human face is asymmetrical and 'weird' so the further they go away from perfection, the more 'real' these characters will be become.
sulijoo Says:
May 2, 2012 - Imagine characters with this level of realism in video-games. Fuck, imagine Skyrim looking as real as this! Coolness. Only snag is, games consoles are nowhere near fast enough to handle such a leap forward in character modelling.
sulijoo Says:
May 2, 2012 - They're showing you the different layers that go into create the 3D model. Diffuse, specularity control how the model textures reacts to light; wireframe is just the actual model itself, made up of polygons.
XandrakeSaysHi Says:
Apr 28, 2012 - They said that they finally crossed the gap that is the uncanny valley to create a character that was so realistic it was impossible to tell it wasn't a human. Look into her cold, dead eyes. They lied.
InsertRelevantMeme Says:
Apr 26, 2012 - To show that you can change everything about the animation you can capture a normal looking person for example and have the person look 100% real but have a unicorn horn sticking out of her head for example...
CactusFlagg Says:
Apr 18, 2012 - All you cunts criticising this, if there was nothing in this video to say it was a CGI demo you wouldn't have noticed a fucking thing. Yes parts of it look off but this is a massive step forward in animation.
ayyekyle Says:
Apr 17, 2012 - no no no NO this is going to ruin my dreams of becoming an actor
RandomUsername010 Says:
Apr 17, 2012 - Someone please explain to me what I'm watching when her face turns red and it says Diffuse, then black and it says Specular, then the white lines and it says Wireframe?
DaBlakNovA Says:
Apr 16, 2012 - No this has not passed the uncanny valley, you're getting there, but I still get a slight chill from looking at this. Its imperfect.
abduhzelda Says:
Apr 16, 2012 - Maybe they should give this to bioware.
YouWithTheFace11 Says:
Apr 14, 2012 - That....is the creepiest thing I have ever seen. CGI Emily, uncanny valley much?
derekmorris89 Says:
Apr 7, 2012 - @OnHighCloud If you didn't get the educational purposes or even the point of this video which it does provide, then I am sorry to say that you're the one who is retarded and your comment is pointless, not the video.
murtisoft Says:
Apr 5, 2012 - That is why this is called 3d arts. And art is just a necessity of human life.
aradioactivedonut Says:
Apr 5, 2012 - but the possibilities are actually limited to entertaining people if you think about it...
Luis11717 Says:
Apr 2, 2012 - How so?
