Jan 5, 2012 - Thank you that worked and I finished my head :D Thank you very much :D

Jan 3, 2012 - @Rafemisora1 In the viewport menu, select View > Select Camera. Then go to Window > Hypergraph Connections. In the Hypergraph window, you'll see that the camera node is attached to a file node representing the image plane. Select and delete this node.

Jan 3, 2012 - Have you remembered to merge the vertices? Without that step, you will get many overlapping vertices. If this is the case, you can marquee select your entire head and go to Edit Mesh > Merge > []. This will merge all the overlapping vertices. If you find the verts aren't merging, you can increase the threshold slightly and try again until it works.

Dec 31, 2011 - I got about 100 Double Vertices trying to do this :S It looks Perfect, very nice, but its got double edges and vertices everywhere so I can't continue my project ;'( How can I make sure to not get these in future :(

Oct 11, 2011 - So I am guessing the more Advance the Drawing is the more harder this is to make right like if I had a picture of Superman and I wanted to make a 3D model like this to animated it, it would take a lot more work. Also when I decide to make my own Custom Character model I should make a side view of my drawing and a front view so that when I make a 3d model of it it will be easier like a guide.
MayaHowTos Says:
Sep 7, 2011 - At this point we're really just spacing the vertices out evenly. Your own version will probably vary but as long as they look nicely spaced you'll be fine.

Jun 30, 2011 - If you try different renderers are you getting the same problem? Or perhaps you're in Smooth Mesh Preview mode? You can check by pressing '1' on your keyboard. Does the model change?
MayaHowTos Says:
May 27, 2011 - Too many tris on the other hand will eliminate your edge loops, making it extremely difficult to work with your model since many tools are based on these loops. They also have a tendency to smooth in undesirable ways. In general renderers DO render things based on tris, but since every quad can be represented as two tris, the renderer tends to take care of this conversion automatically.
MayaHowTos Says:
May 27, 2011 - It's not that they aren't acceptable, but you should try to keep them to a minimum. For long polygons, try purposely creating some badly spaced polys and then smooth the mesh a few times. Notice that the long polygons create "gaps" in the detail on your mesh, which creates all sorts of problems during animation (how can animate vertices where no vertices exist?)
firelily Says:
May 27, 2011 - i understand it's good to have proper topography but I still don't undertand why isn't tris or long polygons acceptable in 3d modeling. Can you possibly show me an example of why tris and long shaped polygons are bad?

Apr 14, 2011 - @J801506 that's the problem, too much blender in your brain, forget about it and stop comparing it to maya. I recomend to stop using blender while learning maya then go back to it a few times if you want to, but seriously, forget you can do anything in blender or any other software while learning maya and it might be easier for you to learn.
