May 11, 2012 - You only get educated at school to be a more efficient human resource. If you gain say...a degree, you have more chance of a job, why? because you demonstrate the willingness to learn any old shit and regurgitate it onto an exam sheet. This gives employers a better understanding on how easily you can be influenced to do as they say.

Apr 3, 2012 - The problem with education is that it isn't really about education at all. The focus is on controlling the young. They aren't schools, they are prisons for youth. Institutions for reinforcing adult authority over youth. We need to lose the mentality that kids don't want to learn and must be forced. Children love to learn, it's 2nd nature to them! Make all subjects voluntary, and allow students a democratic say in the running of their schools. Do that and you will see education thrive. I am

Mar 13, 2012 - I'm so glad I live in a country where I don't need to buy a diploma. I have always loved school and I still love studying languages and literature at uni. And sir Ken Robinson is brilliant. That video might be the single biggest reason that made me want to become a teacher. I want to be a part of the revolution of education. I just hope my studies don't make me forget it.

Feb 19, 2012 - "It is a very grave mistake to think that the enjoyment of seeing and searching can be promoted by means of coercion and a sense of duty. To the contrary, I believe it would be possible to rob even a healthy beast of prey of its voraciousness, if it were possible, with the aid of a whip, to force the beast to devour continuously, even when not hungry." ― Albert Einstein

VolcanicDrum Says:

Feb 3, 2012 - You make a really good point that learning needs to be pursued within a framework, I wish I would have known that early on, a simple sentence packed with power. thank you very much, I will use it with my children.

VolcanicDrum Says:

Feb 3, 2012 - In my opinion the first thing that needs to be done to help education is to stop corporations from holding students hostage, it is wrong to charge $150+ dollars per book when you may use only 4-6 chapters, but most importantly, STOP teacher's Unions, and that is not likely to happen, so the spiral continues until we really become third world, that is what I see happening unfortunately.

cubeaman Says:

Feb 1, 2012 - I believe that your e-reader idea is great. People say that you just cant get the "feel" for the book with an e-reader, but that really limits technological advances. Also, in my school, some students do not understand the topic right away, and some already know it, and they have to learn it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and so on.

Jan 27, 2012 - I feel like high school needs to better prepare students for their future. I am halfway through college right now and some of my friends literally have no idea what they want to do with their lives. They haven't even declared a major yet. I feel like, if high schools helped us prepare for what we want to do, we wouldn't have this problem. Instead, in high school, you just take a bunch of pointless classes to get a diploma.

AnneFox7 Says:

Dec 30, 2011 - Pseudo-Intellectual discussion is not the direction for an undergrad obviously. There is a framework which includes general study and a liberal arts ed in the first two years of university. This provides a basic framework for learning. You can't learn much of any value by naval gazing. Stimulation is exploring within a framework. You should have been googling & doing research to be verified while at school. Group lead teaching is for those who aren't bright enough.. to take in a lecture..

Dec 23, 2011 - Are you social in any way without going to school? Cause I know antisocials that can't really say their r's and you might want to stay social so you can say your r's. Go back to school or talk to people some how. Just in case

IBMua Says:

Dec 20, 2011 - I dropped out of University after 1/2 year for same reasons, although I wasn't paying for my education. I was being paid a scholarship. I actually care tons more about science and stuff now than I did before. And I think the future of education is in science/tech informational and (other than that) educational (how-to) videos. Besides all that, I think in current state teachers should all be voted for/against by students annually to keep the bad ones away. This is plain democratic obviousness.
