Apr 12, 2012 - This is done by using an array of microlenses in or near the focal plane of the main lense. All those small squares represent what each mircolens focused on. By doing some calculations, you can post-process stuff like depth of field, field of view, even slight rotation and tiliting in 3D... It's called light-field photography or plenoptic photography. Google will tell you more ;)
