Mar 11, 2012 - well not exactly.. they're still going to need the actors to drive the 3D models, they could animate it all by hand.. but that's just to much work... better to get the mocap data and have the animators refine it.

Mar 11, 2012 - didn't you listen? they rendered this off the GPU, so it's proprietary software Nvidia developed themselves to do this. In terms of outright horsepower the GPU has waay more then any CPU which is currently what most 3D packages use to render. If you have a fairly modern quad core it would probably take under an hour to render a frame.
