In 1971, Laura, Nyro personally attributed the song Désiree pronouncing it, Deseray, like gay. That's what her version was, an open expression of same-sex attraction , on the down low, to her soul mate, Maria Desiderio. Nyro came out from under the covers on Gonna Take A Miracle, an otherwise album of slavish covers. I think the Charts '57 version Deserie is the bomb. props hwaj5300

I loved the name and song so named my daughter who came along in 68, Deserie Justine Davis . My best friend at the time was Jimmy Roselino who was the italian guitar player for The Gents.
