Free Product Trial: http://www.corel.com/psp The Object Extractor is a great tool for extracting objects from an image. This can be done manually of course, by using Masking Tools like the Magic Wand or the Freehand masking tool, but some images present some hard-to-overcome challenges with semi-transparent areas that have lots of fine details. As you can see, the edges around this giraffe are well defined in most areas, but the mane and some of the fine hairs on its lower lip would be very difficult and time-consuming to select manually. So to extract the giraffe from this image Im going to use the Extract Object tool in PaintShop Photo Pro X3. Less

Aug 16, 2011 - starting to wonder about corel products. Having issues with extracting picture, after doing the outline and processing, parts of my picture is missing where i have done the outlin, and blotchy bits over different areas around the border. Have tried different size brushes as well.. have done it so many times, same thing, done the updates no difference. Also had issues with video studio, so really starting to wonder about these products. . Using windows 7 .

May 8, 2010 - @ironoskar Completely agree. I used the background remover plug in that came with a previous version. On a high contrast, like above, even after fine tuning it leaves a very fine white outline on the subject which renders a very artificial look to the picture. Using the fringe clean-up on a non-contrast background requires extensive manual work and is very spotty. Is there a better background remover out there?

Mar 12, 2010 - You make it as accurate as you want it to be. It's still not magic, it does take manual work if the focus is not so defined. Hide the Mask after every run, then Edit the Mask, zoom in on some finer detail and erase + use a smaller brush size on the part that shadowed or patched.

Feb 28, 2010 - Just installed PSP X3 full version and this extractor does not always work so perfect. It eats away a lot of the image. Is there anyway to adjust the intensity of this extractor so it won't eat away the image?

Feb 10, 2010 - This looks good until you realize that the object is clearly delineated by a high contrast background. If you want to impress me do it when the object and its background are close in hue.

Jan 27, 2010 - You could extract them with a mask if you know the process. But it seems that there's some fringe in the end result where the blue sky is not completely taken away. Does this mean that the colors are not unmixed with the Object Extractor tool?
