Apr 6, 2012 - This movie is incredible. You will learn how valuable the editor is in not only constructing the story / film we see, but also reconstructing it into something else. It's pure poetry in story telling.

Dec 11, 2011 - I give most of my music away for free under a creative commons license for non commercial use. I am happy that people want to download my music and share it. But if you can afford to pay, and would like to help me and other struggling artists like me to make a living, then why not consider some of the alternatives, for example.... (See my post below, and thankyou, we need your help and support.)

Oct 28, 2011 - I thought this was rather good. But there were a few huge problems in this. There was a point where they were pointing out someones movement and how it was cut to look like the close up was at the exact same point in time, but as it had been cut, the guy was turned around slightly less than the shot beforehand. It was a terrible example and easily noticeable. Other than that, I definitely learned a few things from this.

Oct 9, 2011 - This is a prime example of what I'm talking about. If you go into a post house with that attitude, it's unlikely that they'll hire you. I did not say that someone should not go to school. I went to school and graduated in media and communications, but I learned much more about media in a production house. In fact, many studios will not hire someone who does not have a college education. But in the media market, your experience will get you places more than your education.
HotPocketsBoy Says:
Oct 9, 2011 - school is the best way. never tell someone not to go to school. education is invaluable

Aug 18, 2011 - Depends on what you want to edit. Maybe news channels use Vegas. Feature Films use Avid (which was the editing program in this video). At the moment, the big kids use Avid and FCP (but not for long). If you want to work as an editor in LA, learn Avid.
rustyoldknife Says:
Aug 18, 2011 - I'm an editor that learned in a production house. People are more likely to hire you if you have experience, not so much with just education. Just go out and do stuff and rack up experience. When you're in a good place, make a reel and get an edit assist job (maybe a PA job first). BTW, learn Avid (or maybe Premiere) first if you can. FCP and sony vegas are prosumer. LA, Chicago and New York use Avid, everyone else uses FCP (now obsolete) and up and coming Premiere.

May 4, 2011 - most pros have switched to digital nonlinear editing software like final cut pro, avid, sony vegas ect. windows movie maker and videopad are good freewares for beginners. Final Cut Pro is my personal favorite.
